Some Further Questions You May Have About Ludopolis

I suppose you may want to know more things, if you came over here. This is a brief guide to Ludopolis that hopefully will get longer and more refined as the game develops. Feel free to send new questions to...uhh...well, somebody, you should probably tell somebody...

The Questions Part

Q: How do I win?

A: The game ends when somebody reaches a culture level of 200. The person with the highest score at this time wins the game. More information about these numbers can be found in the War and Peace Room inside Ludopolis.

Q: In that case, what should I do first?

A: Most importantly, keep an eye on the housing and food levels in your cities. Before you build over natural land, examine it to see how much food it is providing you. If your city has too many people, found a new city or encourage people to have smaller families.

Q: How do I make my cities successful?

A: Check and see why by examining the immigration menu, by clicking on "Immigration" in any city's menu. People will give reasons why they are leaving or arriving so you can adjust your strategy.

Q: What is with all the items, do they do anything?

A: Sort of. Different kinds of land produce different kinds of items, like roots or game or wheat or even furniture and pottery. Some items need special land so that they can be produced, which can take some time until your cities can manage to coordinate it all. Also, items are worth more or less based on their demand. People can be fickle, so it's best to check your goods reports to see what people want-- especially when you or someone else begins making something new!

Q: Speaking of other people, how do I find them? Why can't I see my friends?

A: If you know someone else is playing, but can't figure out where they are, then they have probably started off in a different place than you. Some worlds are bigger than others so you may be alone for a little while. You can always try sending out a message or two from the bar under your map. Others will be able to see your messages even if they can't see you.

Q: I've been playing for a while, but I can't do anything...what gives??

A: The more culture that your city has, the more options open up for it. Sometimes your city will need more public space to allow it to grow a higher culture level.

Q: Any final hints? This Ludopolis thing is mighty confusing...

A: Don't fret too much, we all know it's hard to figure out what's what at the beginning-- we were all there once! Just click on everything that's clickable, and don't be afraid to experiment a little, since that's a great way to learn. It may take a few hundred years, but you will begin to see what makes those little people tick, and get a knack for making cities that attract them. If you stick with it, you'll find yourself managing city-states with ease! And isn't that what Ludopolis is all about?

Q: Is it?

A: Hush, you.
